Tax Deadline Extended
July 16, 2008—The Iowa Department of Revenue is extending the deadline for businesses in flood-affected areas to remit their withholding, unemployment and sales tax. The extension moves the deadline to August 29 for businesses to remit payment for activity from April 1 to June 30. The usual deadline would have been July 31. Rep. Tyler Olson was instrumental in getting the postponement, which could help many small businesses secure SBA loans or other financing before having to pay those taxes.More details at www.rebuilddowntowncr.org.
