Six Entrepreneurial Development Center Clients Recognized at Technology Association of Iowa Awards
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA—MARCH 4, 2009—The Entrepreneurial Development Center (EDC) is pleased to announce that six of its clients were recognized last night at the 2009 Prometheus Awards, hosted by the Technology Association of Iowa (TAI). This distinguished list of clients includes: MobileDemand (Hiawatha), Geonetric (Cedar Rapids), Involta (Marion), StratosFour (Cedar Rapids), J&J Solutions (Iowa City) and Future Health Inc. (Carroll).
The 2009 Prometheus Awards, held March 3, at the Meadows Convention Center in Altoona, IA, recognizes companies, innovations and individuals that positively impact Iowa's technology-based economy. Nearly 400 people were in attendance at the Awards to celebrate the best and brightest technology companies in Iowa.

Eric Engelmann, President & CEO of Geonetric was recognized as CEO of the Year (Small/Medium company). Geonetric develops web-based software products for the medical industry out of its offices in Cedar Rapids. Geonetric was winner of the Software Company of the Year Award at the 2007 Prometheus Awards and was runner-up for CEO of the Year last year.

"With the help of my outstanding management team and employees, we’ve placed an increased emphasis on employee development and training as well as providing superior customer support. EDC client J&J Solutions was presented with Student Start-Up of the Year. J&J Solutions is a medical device start-up founded by recent University of Iowa graduate, John Slump, and an attending senior, Jared Garfield. They have developed a patent-pending design for a closed system drug transfer device that allows for the "Sealed, Secure, and Safe" handling of hazardous drugs, specifically chemotherapy pharmaceuticals.
Cedar Rapids-based StratosFour, Inc. was awarded Communications Company of the Year. StratosFour delivers a full-range of Internet communications services ranging from webinars, webcasting and web conferencing, to web-based application development and multi-media production.
Additionally, four other EDC clients were finalists for various awards: Matt Miller of MobileDemand was runner-up for CEO of the Year (Small/Medium sized companies); Involta was a finalist in the category of Technology Company of the Year – Infrastructure; Geonetric was one of three finalists for Technology Company of the Year – Product and Future Health Software was a contender for Software Company of the Year (Small).
