Mediacom to Broadcast 2009 EDC Client EXPO Keynote Speech
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA—SEPTEMBER 15, 2009—The Entrepreneurial Development Center (EDC), a Cedar Rapids-based business accelerator, announced that Mediacom, a regional cable provider, began airing the keynote speech from the September 1, 2009 EDC Client EXPO yesterday. See schedule of future broadcasts below. Each broadcast is 40 minutes in length and contains brief interviews conducted with four area entrepreneurs at the end of the segment. Mediacom subscribers can view the keynote broadcast on channel MC22.
Globally-recognized Economic Developer, Richard Bendis, gave the speech titled, “The Future of Innovation-based Economic Development—Making it Work in Iowa” to a crowd of over 225 entrepreneurs and area business and community leaders at the Kirkwood Center for Continuing Education. “Mr. Bendis’ experience with growing his own companies, managing Venture Capital funds and running successful economic development programs such as KTEC and Innovation Philadelphia, provides an interesting perspective from which we, as Iowans, can learn,” said VP of Marketing for the EDC, Josie Heskje.
Mr. Bendis’ speech kicked off the EDC’s 4th Annual Client EXPO. That event featured 30 of EDC’s entrepreneur clients exhibiting their products and services. The entrepreneurs featured at the end of the keynote broadcast include: Bruce Lehrman, Involta; Larry Selensky, Ovation Networks; Tim Guenther, Clickstop and Eric Bochner, Bochner Chocolates.
“We are pleased that Mediacom is broadcasting the EDC Client EXPO Keynote,” said Heskje. “It is a great opportunity to share Mr. Bendis’ message about the importance of innovation to Iowa’s economic future with those who couldn’t join us on September 1.”
