EDC Client J&J Solutions Among Seven Finalists For John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition
CORALVILLE, IA—August 10, 2010—Seven Iowa businesses have been selected to continue in the 2010 John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition, among them is EDC client, J&J Solutions, Inc. of Coralville. In the first round of the competition, businesses submitted brief information about their business plans. Based on those entries, judges chose 24 entrepreneurs to submit full business plans, which were narrowed down to these final seven:
Cabin Coffee Franchising, Inc., Energy Control Technologies, Growth Design Energy Mt. Valley LLC, IDx, J & J Solutiions, LuCella Biosciences, Inc. and Pathovacs, Inc.
“We are pleased that our client J&J Solutions has been recognized as a finalist in the John Pappajohn Business Plan Competition,” said Curt Nelson, EDC President & CEO. “They made the initial investment in developing a complete business plan and have diligently updated their plan as the business has evolved—using it to not only set the direction of their business but to attract capital to scale as well.”
Each of the seven businesses will interview with a panel of judges on September 9. From there, the top three finalists will be selected to present at the Iowa Entrepreneurs and Venture Conference in Des Moines, IA, on October 5.
The John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition (www.iowabusinessplancompetition.com) is designed to stimulate business development and provide support for exemplary business plans. This year a total of $50,000 will be awarded to the top three submitted business plans ($25,000 for first prize, $15,000 for second and $10,000 for third). Honorable mention and $1,000 will be awarded to additional companies.
The John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Centers provide entrepreneurial education and business support, partnering with agencies like the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED), business accelerators and local entrepreneurs to assist with funding and other business needs.
