EDC Client, Geonetric, Launches New Intranet for Asante Health System
Cedar Rapids, IA - July 12, 2011 - Geonetric, an online solutions provider for the healthcare industry, recently launched a new employee intranet for Asante Health System and its nearly 4,000 employees. Branded "myAsanteNET," the intranet is integrated with Microsoft Active Directory™ and offers employees the convenience of single sign-on capabilities and content that is personalized based on their role in the organization. The site is built on Geonetric's VitalSite software platform.
"It was important to develop an intranet that serves as a resource for Asante," said Matt Allred, I.T.S. director at Asante Health System. "Geonetric was instrumental in helping us achieve our goals of building an intranet that offers a cohesive experience for employees across the health system while providing personalized content for each department."
The home page displays a message from the president/CEO and a rotating banner highlighting information from the rest of the executive team. It displays a news section, cafeteria menus, and the latest census data on the health system's two hospitals, Rogue Valley Medical Center and Three Rivers Community Hospital. Taking advantage of the Active Directory integration, the home page also offers a "My Department" link, which allows users to access their own internal department site. Each department site is specific to the user and contains information and documents relevant to them. This is a powerful tool for managers to ensure immediate access to data that may be critical to their staff.
The intranet provides a sophisticated employee directory that is integrated with Active Directory. This integration enables additions and revisions to be refreshed on the site daily. In addition to basic contact information, the employee directory displays an organizational chart and an email icon, allowing emails to be sent to any employee easily. Results from directory searches can also be exported into Microsoft Excel™ and printed.
Another unique highlight of myAsanteNET includes an online medical library where users can search the library's resources and submit a request for an article, book or journal of interest. The request is routed to the medical librarian automatically.
Other features include a searchable forms repository, an HR Central section with key employee benefit and job opportunity information, and a resource tab that allows users to read news and access the classifieds section where employees post items for sale.
Asante Health System and Geonetric are in the process of implementing Geonetric's Web-based policy and procedure manager on myAsanteNET to better manage standing orders, entity policies and other critical patient care documents. This application will also be accessible by physicians from their offices via the physician VPN.
